Colton Herta has pulled out of both events at the Madring Formula 2 round.

The Hitech racer was involved in a crash during qualifying on Friday at Madrid’s new circuit, losing control in Turn 19. He collided with both barriers, causing damage to the front, rear and right side of his vehicle.

Herta subsequently withdrew from both races on Saturday and Sunday, reportedly feeling “unwell.” There has been no announcement regarding his status for future rounds.

The former IndyCar competitor opted to chase his F1 aspirations with a Cadillac testing and development position, but he was well aware that transitioning to F2 would be challenging.

Nevertheless, he likely did not anticipate such significant difficulties. Herta has only managed to qualify in the top 10 once in 11 rounds and has accumulated 26 points this season – with 20 of those coming in the first five rounds.

In other words, the American's advancement has been less than noticeable, and he suffered what could be considered his toughest weekend of the season in Monza, where he crashed twice. That marks three incidents in his last six F2 outings.

On a brighter note, Hitech teammate Ritomo Miyata finally secured his first F2 victory on Saturday after 76 attempts, while fellow American Ugo Ugochukwu claimed the 2026 F3 championship earlier on Sunday.
