African Basketball League: CR Belouizdad Secures Spot in Elite 16
CR Belouizdad has secured its place in the "Elite 16" stage of the African Basketball League qualifiers.
This achievement came after they concluded their journey in Group A of the Western region with a well-deserved victory over Cape Verde's Crioul Star, winning 84-69 in a match held in Tripoli, Libya.
The Algerian basketball representative achieved its second consecutive win, confirming a strong comeback after stumbling in the opening match against Al-Ittihad of Libya, losing 93-69. They then managed to recover by defeating Stade Malien 92-77 before finishing the group stage with another victory over Crioul Star.
Thus, CR Belouizdad ended the group stage with a positive record, achieving two wins and one loss, which allowed them to advance to the second stage of the qualifiers in second place in Group A.
This qualification is a significant achievement for the Algerian club, which aims to continue its continental journey and prove its ability to compete with top African clubs, after winning both the championship and cup in Algeria in 2025.
CR Belouizdad will face a new challenge in the "Elite 16" stage, scheduled to take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from November 9 to 15, where clubs from the Western region will compete for two spots in the seventh season of the African Basketball League in 2027.
