Ahmed Sherif competes with the fastest goal scorers in the history of the CAF Champions League.

Ahmed Sherif, the first-team player for Zamalek SC, scored the opening goal for his team against Rwandan Army in the ongoing match at Cairo Stadium, during the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, in the 43rd minute of the game.

Ahmed Sherif's goal is one of the earliest in the tournament's history, joining a list of quick-start goals in CAF Champions League matches, which includes Mostafa Shalaby, a former Zamalek player, who scored in just 11 seconds against Sudan's Al-Merrikh in the group stage in 2023, and Thiago Azulao of Angola's Petro Atlético, who found the net after 16 seconds against Sagrada.

The tournament also saw Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan of Tunisian club Esperance scoring in the 43rd minute against Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy in February 2022, and Mohamed Sherif, the former Al Ahly striker, who scored in the 53rd minute against Cameroon’s Cotonsport in March 2023.
