Athletics: French athlete Cyréna Samba-Mayela, silver medalist in the Olympic 100m hurdles, is facing a temporary suspension.

According to the authority, 25-year-old Cyréna Samba-Mayela has been under suspension since September 18. She faces up to two years of ban for failing to provide her location information to anti-doping agencies three times in the past twelve months, which could cause her to miss the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics in July 2028.

The hurdles specialist, who was the European champion in the discipline in 2024 in Rome, had to withdraw from the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham this summer due to physical issues.

After the Olympics, she left her coach, Irishman John Coghlan, whom she had followed to Orlando, Florida, at the end of 2023. She joined Tonja Buford-Bailey in Texas, where she trains with athletes such as American sprinter Gabby Thomas, the Olympic champion in the 200m in Paris.

The French athlete had been placed in the AIU's target group, which required her to provide a daily 15-minute window between 5:00 AM and 11:00 PM to be subject to testing.

This obligation requires athletes to communicate their training, competition, and staging locations; failure to report or misreport their information results in a violation.
