FC Bayern Munich hosted 1. FC Magdeburg from the second division in the second round of the DFB-Pokal, marking the second consecutive match that Kompany missed.

Assistant coach Ron Danks took charge of the team again, leading them to a 3-1 victory, having previously guided them to the same scoreline against SC Freiburg on Sunday.

Eberl added: "The condition was diagnosed as irritation of the meninges that caused the incident on Friday."

He continued: "Honestly, his condition is as good as can be expected under the circumstances. He left the hospital on Wednesday, and that is the best news for all of us."

Eberl explained that the Belgian coach will continue his recovery at home and needs plenty of rest.

Danks will remain in his role as interim head coach until further notice, which may include the upcoming match on Saturday in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund, which will feature the league leaders and their challenger.

Sporting director Max Eberl told ARD on Wednesday that Kompany was suffering from "irritation of the meninges," a condition that could develop into meningitis if left untreated.

The meninges are the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord.
