The African journey for DC Virunga has come to an end. After holding strong for much of the match at the 11 November Stadium in Luanda, the Goma team finally broke down in the dying moments against Primeiro de Agosto (1-0) on Friday night in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.

As both teams headed toward a goalless draw after a fiercely contested first half, the verdict came in the dying minutes. Angolan player Mabilson scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute, sealing the fate of the encounter to the great dismay of the Congolese supporters.

Having already lost the first leg 1-2 at home, DC Virunga bows out with an aggregate score of 1-3 over the two matches. This victory allows Primeiro de Agosto to secure a place in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, while the green and white team from Goma exits the continental competition with their heads held high after a respectable run.
