Ugandan coach Paul Put explained the reasons why some players will miss the match against Botswana in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
He clarified the situation regarding Noble Okello, whose profile and logistical constraints played a key role in the coach's final decision.
“I had a discussion with him (Okello), and he faced issues during his last visit here. He was quarantined in Canada and only recently returned to the club. Calling him up for this camp would mean he would have to go through the same procedure. We discussed this with him, he understood the situation, and we hope to count on him for the matches in March next year,” Put expressed.
Additionally, the coach mentioned that Dieudonne Gaucho Debohi and Souleymane Diaby, although seen during friendly matches against the DRC, still have to wait due to administrative procedures. Their requests for a change of sporting nationality are still pending validation by FIFA.
