In his first appearance of the season with Brighton, the Algerian defender quickly showed he could be an asset on his flank. A promising performance, unfortunately interrupted before the final whistle.

After missing Brighton's season opener, Jaouen Hadjam seized the opportunity presented by the English League Cup to return to the pitch. The Algerian defender stood out against Manchester United on Wednesday night during the competition's third round.

Positioned on the left flank, Hadjam particularly excelled offensively. Very active on his side, he contributed to several threatening actions for Brighton and played a key role in his team's opening goal.

In the 45th+1 minute, the Algerian international provided an assist to his Greek teammate Charalampos Kostoulas, allowing Brighton, who was trailing 2-0 early on, to regain momentum before halftime. A significant contribution for the full-back, who was making his very first appearance in Brighton colors, having joined this summer.

Beyond this assist, Hadjam also performed well in duels and ball recovery. Match statistics indicate he recovered eight balls, attempted two crosses, made one key pass, and created a dangerous chance.

However, the evening took a less favorable turn as the final quarter approached. After a collision with a Manchester United player, Hadjam was forced to leave the field in the 75th minute, replaced by Ferdi Kadioglu.

Brighton ultimately won the match 3-2 in a thrilling encounter. It remains to be seen the exact nature of the Algerian defender's injury, as medical examinations will determine the potential duration of his unavailability.
