Former Black Stars coach Otto Addo has contacted FIFA regarding the financial obligations that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) allegedly failed to meet following the termination of his contract in March 2026.
The coach is reportedly seeking over $750,000 in unpaid salaries, bonuses, and other benefits outlined in his contract. According to Joy Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, his request specifically pertains to 15 months of unpaid salaries, despite his attempts to reach out to the federation after his departure.
This action follows the GFA's decision to end Otto Addo's second term as head coach of the Black Stars. His departure was announced on March 31, 2026, after two friendly match losses against Austria (5-1) in Vienna and Germany (2-1) in Stuttgart. These results brought Ghana's consecutive defeat tally to four.
The coach's dismissal occurred just 72 days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, for which Ghana was preparing to face England in the group stage.
At 50 years old, Otto Addo resumed the role of head coach in March 2024, after previously leading the Ghanaian team from 2022 to 2023.
His financial claim specifically includes 15 months of unpaid salaries, based on a monthly salary of $50,000 as stated in his contract, totaling $750,000. This amount would be in addition to bonuses and other contractual benefits.
So far, the GFA has not publicly responded to this complaint filed with FIFA and has not provided any information regarding the potential amounts owed to their former coach.
