Hossam Hassan apologizes for missing the CAF conference due to his nephew's wedding celebration.

Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egypt national team, has apologized for not attending the coaching conference organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) featuring Arsène Wenger.

A source from the Egypt national team stated that Hossam Hassan had declined the invitation long before the first match against Angola in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The source added that Hossam Hassan's reason for declining is that the conference lasts for three days from October 7 to 9, coinciding with the wedding of Ibrahim Hassan's son, the team's director, on October 9, and not for any other reasons as previously speculated.

Details of the CAF Conference

The Confederation of African Football announced Hossam Hassan's participation in the CAF Strategy Conference, stating in an official release that the conference will feature Arsène Wenger, FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development and former Arsenal manager, along with a group of coaches who have led African national teams to notable achievements in the 2026 World Cup, including Hossam Hassan, Bubista, the coach of Cape Verde, Mohamed Wahbi, the head coach of Morocco, and Sébastien Desabre, the coach of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

CAF noted that the conference will be held in Cape Verde from October 7 to 9, bringing together coaches from 54 member associations of CAF, along with football legends, to discuss ways to enhance the development of football on the African continent.
