A unique Kimi Antonelli rookie card has fetched $878,400 at auction, positioning it as the second most costly Formula 1 card ever sold, just days ahead of the Mercedes driver potentially securing the world championship.

The card, a 2025 Topps Chrome F1 Chrome Autographs SuperFractor marked 1/1 and graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA, was sold via Goldin after 34 bids, with the auction concluding on 17 October.

There is only one version of this card. It features Antonelli’s signature in blue ink and Topps’ gold SuperFractor finish, with Goldin referring to it as the “Holy Grail” of his Formula 1 journey.

As per Card Ladder data reported by Sports Illustrated, there has only been one F1 card that has sold for a higher price: a 2020 Topps Chrome F1 SuperFractor 1/1 of Lewis Hamilton, graded PSA 7, which sold for $900,000 through Goldin in May 2022. Antonelli’s card fell just $21,600 short of that benchmark.

This transaction marked the highest sale of any sports card that week, exceeding the previous record for an Antonelli card by more than four times, with a Topps Dynasty patch rookie card that previously sold for $201,910, also through Goldin.

The same Goldin auction featured a 2025 Topps Chrome F1 Red Refractor of Antonelli, numbered 5/5 and graded PSA 9. Card-collecting account Strictly Turn One reports that it was sold for $128,100, having been purchased for $5,000 on eBay in February.

The increase in interest comes as Antonelli approaches the championship in just his second season. The Italian enters Austin with a 102-point advantage over Mercedes teammate George Russell, and can secure the title on Sunday if he wins and Russell finishes outside the top eight, with Lewis Hamilton finishing outside the top four.

If successful, at 20, he would become the youngest world champion in F1 history, surpassing the record set by Sebastian Vettel in 2010.
