Manchester United exits the EFL Cup in an unusual event for the first time in fifty years.

Frustrated Manchester United fans witnessed a rare occurrence at Old Trafford, as their team suffered a 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the EFL Cup, despite leading 2-0 early in the match.

United started the match strongly, with young player Shia Lacey scoring in the 8th minute, followed by Mason Mount adding a second just two minutes later.
However, Brighton made a strong comeback in the second half, with Charalampos Kostoulas reducing the deficit in stoppage time of the first half.
Pascal Groß equalized in the 65th minute, before Maxim De Kuiper scored the third goal just four minutes later, leading Brighton to turn the match around amidst boos from the home crowd at the end of the game.
Manager Michael Carrick told Sky Sports, "We cannot accept what happened. I take full responsibility. The performance in the final minutes of the match is on me."
This marks the third consecutive defeat for Manchester United in domestic cup competitions, having exited last season's EFL Cup in the second round on penalties to Grimsby Town, a fourth-tier team, and then losing 2-1 at home to Brighton in the third round of the FA Cup in January.
It was the first time Manchester United lost at home after leading by two goals since September 1976, when Tottenham Hotspur came back to win by the same scoreline.
While Brighton advanced to the Round of 16, this defeat was a heavy blow for Manchester United, who had controversially lost 1-0 to rivals Manchester City in the Premier League earlier in the week. The team currently sits in 13th place, having won only one of their four matches.
