Formula 1's integration into everyday life is thriving, with Drive to Survive captivating audiences in living rooms worldwide for several years and the F1 film stepping in during the off-seasons. Gaming has played a significant role in this expansion as well. The EA Sports F1 game continues to gain traction, and McLaren, alongside its partner Logitech, has taken notice. At its G PLAY 2026 event, the RS50 McLaren Racing Bundle was unveiled to great excitement.

This comprehensive wheel-and-pedal setup is adorned in McLaren's iconic papaya and black colors. While you might anticipate a price tag akin to Zak Brown's salary, it’s actually priced at just $899.99 for the PlayStation/PC variant.

What you get for $900

As the official gaming peripherals partner of McLaren Racing, Logitech aims to provide fans with an experience that closely mirrors what McLaren Racing delivers to its drivers. This bundle contains a specially selected array of RS-series components in McLaren's colors, designed for PlayStation and PC. If you don't require Sony compatibility, you can save $100, as the PC-only version is available for $799.99.

The RS50 Base delivers up to 8 Nm of peak torque through Logitech's TRUEFORCE force feedback technology. This is complemented by the RS Formula Wheel McLaren Racing Edition, designed to resemble the steering wheel from McLaren's 2024 MCL38, along with an RS Wheel Hub and a set of RS Pedals. A table clamp ensures everything is securely attached to a desk. The RS Wheel Hub features magnetic paddle shifters and fully integrated controls, with Bruce McLaren's words inscribed on the rear of the wheel. The pedals are sold as a two-pedal set, with a clutch available as an optional addition.

"Sim racing isn't solely about mimicking physics; it's about encapsulating the emotional bond between driver and machine," stated Richard Neville, Head of Simulation at Logitech G. "The RS50 McLaren Racing Bundle embodies years of effort in transforming the demands of professional teams into something that is accessible."

The Playseat Formula Instinct: Logitech G McLaren Racing Edition, shown below, is available separately for $649.99.

Individual components available

If you're not a fan of Papaya, that's perfectly fine. Logitech offers various wheels and components without the McLaren branding. Options include the G923 wheel, a PC-only RS50 System, and the RS50 Base itself, priced at $279.99 for those building a neutral setup.

The RS Pedals are particularly noteworthy. The brake features a 75 kg load cell that measures pressure rather than travel distance, while the accelerator employs a contactless Hall-effect sensor instead of the potentiometer typically found in lower-end models. The absence of physical contact helps the sensor resist wear and drift. Pedal spacing is adjustable, and adding the RS Clutch Module allows for a clutch pedal as well. For those looking to spend less, the separate RS Pedals SE ($129.99) replaces the load cell with a Hall-effect brake and can be upgraded later.

This setup may not be geared towards hardcore sim racers, but if you're enjoying the F1 season and curious about the challenges of racing, this is an excellent way to embark on your sim racing journey with reliable equipment at your disposal.
