A recent commercial production inadvertently ignited one of the most talked-about off-track speculations within the Formula 1 paddock at the moment.

Images that have surfaced on social media depict Max Verstappen lounging atop the front left wheel of his RB22, donning what appears to be an unreleased team outfit. Prominently showcased on the right side of the Red Bull ace’s chest and across his shoulders is the well-known Adidas logo alongside its signature three-stripe design, completely superseding the existing Castore branding.

The branding shift extended beyond just the clothing. A detailed examination of the leaked set images uncovers a large white Adidas logo clearly marked on the side of the RB22.

The €27 million Red Bull x Adidas speculation

Rumors of the German sportswear giant luring the Milton Keynes team began to gain significant momentum earlier this year. Initial reports from BILD suggested that the two influential brands were in talks for a substantial merchandise and apparel agreement slated to commence with the 2027 F1 season.

The financial details of the rumored arrangement are astounding. The contract is said to be valued at around €27 million annually, securing the racing team’s place within the three-stripe ecosystem for a minimum of three seasons.

Taking control of Red Bull's profitable merchandise operations would mark a significant advancement in Adidas's bold motorsport endeavors. The apparel company has already made substantial inroads into the paddock and is now seeking to incorporate the Austrian powerhouse into an expanding F1 portfolio that already includes Mercedes and Audi.

Although the star driver was photographed in the actual gear, neither the racing team nor the sportswear executives have released an official statement to confirm the switch for 2027. Until a public announcement is made, Castore continues to be the official supplier.
