The Golf Federation: Egypt hosts the Arab Championship for Juniors and Youth at Madinaty and Mirage City courses.
The Egyptian Golf Federation has announced the start of the 2026 Arab Junior and Youth Golf Championship, featuring around 120 players from 13 countries. This major sporting event highlights Egypt's position on the Arab golf map and its ability to organize and host major tournaments.
This announcement came during a press conference held this evening in Madinaty to reveal the details of the championship and the preparations needed to host it. The conference was attended by Engineer Mohamed Anwar, Vice President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, Mr. Adel Al-Fayed, Vice President of the Arab Golf Federation, Mr. Hani Al-Abdellat, Head of Referees at the Arab Golf Federation, Stuart Clayton, Technical Director of the National Golf Teams, and Josh North, Tournament Director of the Egyptian Golf Federation.
Engineer Mohamed Anwar emphasized that Egypt's hosting of the Arab Junior and Youth Championship for the second consecutive year, with the participation of 13 countries, reflects Egypt's leading position in Arab golf and the great confidence in its organizational capabilities. He praised the Arab Golf Federation for choosing Egypt to host the championship, stating that "Egypt is the heart of Arab golf and represents the heart of the Arab nations." He noted that the history of golf in Egypt spans about 140 years, demonstrating the depth and roots of the game in the country.
He added that Egyptian golf has seen significant growth in recent years, both in terms of organizing and hosting major tournaments and expanding participation among juniors and youth. He affirmed that the Egyptian Golf Federation is particularly focused on developing the junior sector, discovering promising talents, and preparing new generations of players capable of competing at both the Arab and international levels, which contributes to enhancing Egypt's status and the future of golf in the region.
For his part, Adel Al-Fayed, Vice President of the Arab Golf Federation, expressed his happiness to be in Egypt, praising the organizational level, preparations, course readiness, and the warm welcome extended to delegations and players. Al-Fayed confirmed that the Egyptian Golf Federation has worked to overcome various challenges and provide the championship requirements in line with Egypt's status, especially with the extensive Arab participation and the large number of players.
Meanwhile, Hani Al-Abdellat, Head of the Referees Committee at the Arab Golf Federation, thanked Egypt and the Egyptian Golf Federation for hosting and sponsoring the championship for the second consecutive year, expressing his appreciation for the efforts made to ensure the success of the competitions.
The Arab Golf Championship will take place starting tomorrow, Thursday, October 8, through Saturday, October 10, at the Madinaty and Mirage City courses, with more than 120 male and female players representing 13 Arab countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Palestine, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Tunisia, Libya, Qatar, Iraq, Morocco, and host country Egypt. The championship will feature competitions in various age categories for both genders: under 13 and 16 years for boys and girls, under 18 years for boys, and under 21 years for young men and women.
This championship comes as part of the strategy of the Egyptian Golf Federation, led by Mr. Omar Hisham Talaat, to expand the practice of golf among juniors and youth, increase opportunities for interaction among Arab players, and discover promising talents, which contributes to supporting the future of the game in the Arab world and preparing players capable of competing in regional and international tournaments.
