The Squash Association imposes a fine of £10,000 on Mostafa Asal.

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) announced on Thursday, October 8, that it has imposed a fine of £10,000 on Egyptian squash player Mustafa Assal for multiple violations of the association's code of conduct.

Five Violations of the Code of Conduct

The association clarified that the penalty resulted from violations related to five clauses of the PSA's code of conduct, which are:
- Unprofessional behavior.
- Inappropriate public relations.
- Use of audible foul language.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Aggressive or confrontational behavior.

The Incident During the Match Against Ali Abou El Einin

The PSA reported that the events leading to the penalty occurred during Mustafa Assal's match against fellow Egyptian Ali Abou El Einin in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Classic squash tournament, which Assal recently won.

The match took place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and the violations also included statements made by the player during the press conference immediately following the match.

Part of the Fine Suspended

The association revealed that the total fine amounts to £10,000, of which £3,000 is suspended.

PSA confirmed that if Mustafa Assal commits any similar violation of the code of conduct between October 6, 2026, and October 6, 2027, the suspended part of the fine will be activated, in addition to an automatic suspension of 8 weeks from participating in PSA events.

Assal Accepts the Penalty Without Appeal

The PSA announced that Mustafa Assal has accepted the decision regarding him and chose not to appeal the penalty. Assal continues to compete internationally, currently holding the number one ranking in the world.
