The national volleyball team has officially qualified for the 2027 World Cup, set to take place in Poland, after a convincing victory over the Moroccan team, winning three sets to none today, Friday, in the third-place playoff of the African Championship.
The "Greens" dominated the match, starting the first set strongly and taking the lead, winning it 25-19. They confirmed their determination to finish the continental championship, held in Tunisia from September 13 to 25, 2026, with a place on the podium.
The national team continued their superiority in the second set, benefiting from focus and efficiency throughout various stages of play, finishing the set 25-21. They were now just one set away from securing third place and joining Tunisia and Cameroon at the global event.
The situation did not change in the third set, as the "Greens" maintained their control over the match. They continued to impose their rhythm on the Moroccan team, winning the set 25-18, achieving a well-deserved victory with three clean sets.
With this win, the volleyball team finished the African Championship in third place, ensuring their participation in the upcoming World Cup, scheduled in Poland from September 10 to 26, 2027.
The "Greens" had lost the opportunity to reach the final after being defeated by Cameroon three sets to one, while the Moroccan team also lost to Tunisia by the same score.
This made the third-place playoff a decisive match between the two teams. Algeria regained control, seizing the last three African spots for the World Cup with merit.
