Wael Riyad "Shitos," the coach of Egypt's U-17 team, expressed his pride and full confidence in his players' abilities after their victory over Tunisia, winning 2-1 in the North African qualifiers.
The Egypt U-17 team secured a 2-1 win against Tunisia in a match held on Wednesday at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, as part of the third round of the North African qualifiers (UNAF) for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Ghana next year.
U-17 Team Has Not Secured Qualification Yet
Shitos confirmed in his post-match statements that the team approaches every match with confidence, humility, and complete faith in their available abilities, emphasizing that the U-17 team has not officially secured qualification yet, despite achieving their second victory in the tournament.
The coach also highlighted the difficulty of the North African qualifiers, which resemble the atmosphere of continental finals due to the strength of the participating teams such as Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, and Libya.
Wael Riyad noted that the coaching staff and players are focused on the upcoming match against Morocco on Saturday, aiming to collect three points to officially confirm their qualification for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations set to be held in Ghana in 2027.
