The Cameroon Basketball Federation has announced a roster of 24 players selected for the qualifying rounds of Zone IV for AfroCAN. From October 10 to 13, 2026, at the Japoma gymnasium in Douala, the team led by Cameroon coach François Enyegue will vie for their spot in the final phase scheduled for July 2 to 11, 2027, in Kigali. This will be a challenging task against their Central African rivals.
To achieve this, coach François Enyegue has called upon 24 players primarily from the local league: Firebirds, BEAC, ALPH, FAP, MC Noah, as well as expatriates like Dylan Ngompe (Jo’burg Giants), Ousman Njoya, Paul Mouandjo, Kevin Nyemeck (Burundi), and Jason Youmbi.
In this Zone IV, known for being the most competitive in Central Africa, the Lions of the orange ball will face off against their historical opponents: Gabon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of Congo, and Equatorial Guinea, to secure their qualification for Kigali.
Established in 2019 by FIBA Africa, AfroCAN is akin to the CHAN for basketball. This tournament is exclusively for players competing on the continent. Held every four years, it brings together 12 nations. After Bamako 2019, won by the DRC, and Luanda 2023, claimed by Morocco, the third edition will take place in 2027 in Rwanda, at the Kigali Arena. The zonal qualifiers are scheduled from September 2026 to June 2027.
