A touching moment between Kimi Antonelli and his father, Marco Antonelli, has gained popularity online after the Mercedes driver celebrated his eighth Formula 1 victory at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Once the Italian driver parked his Mercedes on the grid, he went to rejoice with his team. His father was positioned at the front of the barriers, holding a red carnation ready to present to his son. As he handed it over, both shared a laugh and embraced before the 20-year-old proceeded with his pre-podium responsibilities.

Fans on social media quickly noticed the moment, describing it as "heartwarming" and "cherished".

"Such a heartwarming moment. Kimi is so easy to support," one fan remarked on Reddit, while another quipped: "What is this, The Bachelor?"

"The fact that little red carnation was from Papanelli. Stop, that’s so cherished," another fan shared on X.

Additional comments included: "This is the most Italian thing ever and I love it! Andiamo Kimi!" and "The new GOAT".

Antonelli secured an additional 25 points in Madrid, increasing his lead in the drivers' championship to 81 points ahead of his teammate George Russell, who currently holds second place.

Despite his significant advantage in the standings, Antonelli is cautious about focusing too much on the potential of winning his first championship title this year.

"Well, that’s precisely what I want to avoid," Antonelli stated after the race. "I aim to keep pushing race by race, you know, keep performing and enjoying the process, and then, you know, strive to do my best in every race. And then we’ll see where we end up at the end of the year."

The 15th round of the season, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, is scheduled to take place at the Baku City Circuit from 24-26 September.
