The trophy awarded at the Spanish GP has sparked a divide among F1 enthusiasts, yet one particular comparison continues to resurface.

Formula 1 has revealed the trophy for the first-ever Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, and fans are eagerly expressing their opinions on its design.

This weekend's Spanish Grand Prix signifies the series' debut at the semi-street circuit. Organizers presented the trophy, inspired by the banked La Monumental corner, just ahead of the racing events. The sleek, silver design also incorporates the layout of the track, which forms its cross-section and is highlighted in red.

"It resembles a churro," one user remarked on Reddit, leading another to reply: "I find it amusing that they must have deliberated and crafted this design for months or even years, and yet one person on Reddit calls it a churro, and now it's dubbed the churro trophy."

"It looks like a churro to me. If Kimi wins, he should pour chocolate into his bowl trophy and dip this trophy in," another fan suggested, alluding to Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli who was seen eating spaghetti from his Italian Grand Prix trophy last weekend.

"Referring to a turn as 'La Monumental' at a circuit that hasn’t held any form of race, let alone F1, seems quite audacious," another comment stated, while another user shared: "I’ve criticized various aspects, but I think the trophy looks appealing."

Additional reactions included: "It would be fascinating to witness the forging process for this," and "This trophy looks impressive. The cross-section of the course map combined with the curve of La Monumental is a fantastic design. It surpasses the Monza trophy and is clearly influenced by the Monaco trophy."

Fans will witness cars on the track for the first time in Madrid on Friday, 11 September, during the initial two practice sessions. The Spanish Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday, 13 September.
