Taha Ezzat, the director of the competitions committee at the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, revealed in exclusive statements to "Youm7" that there is a study to move the dates of the first round matches of the Cairo Capital Cup to October 7 and 8, instead of the previously scheduled dates of October 8 and 9.

Ezzat noted that the proposal for the adjustment came after two days were freed up from the schedule of the national team’s training camp, which is set to end on October 4 instead of October 6. He explained that the main goal of moving the tournament's start date is to provide a longer rest period for all participating clubs before resuming the league competition.

Three clubs have managed to win the Cairo Capital Cup (formerly the League Cup), with Modern Sport claiming the first edition in 2022. Ceramica then dominated the tournament by winning the titles for 2023, 2024, and 2025 consecutively, while Al Masry became the third club to win the Cairo Capital Cup after securing the title last season.

Ali Maher, the former head coach of Modern Sport, was the first coach to win the title with his previous team in the inaugural edition.
