Canada leads Tanzania 1-0 at halftime on this third and final day of the group stage of the U20 Women's World Cup, on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Katowice Arena.
The young Canadians took advantage of their momentum by scoring early to gain the lead at the break.
The breakthrough came in the 7th minute with an unfortunate own goal by Tanzanian defender Ester Maseke.
Following this stroke of bad luck, the Tanzanian team is trying to respond but struggles to destabilize Canada's solid organization, which is virtually qualified for the Round of 16 thanks to this temporary advantage.
This valuable goal allows the North American representatives to head to the locker room with a significant sense of calm.
The Tanzanian coaching staff will need to reassess their offensive strategies upon resumption to try to turn the situation around and avoid an early exit from the tournament.
