Back under the spotlight with Le Havre AC, Ahmed Touba sincerely hopes that his impressive performances in Ligue 1 will reopen the doors to the national team. The 28-year-old defender has certainly not lost his attachment to the Greens, as he clearly expressed during an interview with the official media of his new club.

Ahmed Touba has not forgotten Algeria. Even after a more challenging period at club level and a prolonged absence from the national team gatherings, the defender remains deeply attached to the green jersey.

His move to Havre AC allows him to regain playing time and confidence, with two particularly impressive performances in Ligue 1.

Asked about his international career, the DZ player proudly mentioned the fifteen caps he has accumulated with Algeria, as well as his goal scored in the national jersey.

“Fifteen caps and one goal, too! What does that represent for me? A lot of pride, joy. Representing your country, whether it’s an official match, a friendly, or in competitions, is a source of pride,” he shared.

Touba's choice of Algeria was not trivial for the Fennec. Before joining the Greens, he had worn the colors of Belgium in various youth categories. However, his ties to Algeria have been present since his childhood.

“My parents are from Algeria. I am Algerian. Every year, we would go there. I grew up there in a way. We would spend several months,” the player recounted.

These regular stays allowed him to stay connected to his roots and family culture: “Of course, you learn to live like them, with them. It’s a part of your identity.”

Arriving this summer at Havre AC on loan, Ahmed Touba quickly found his place in Didier Digard's team. After a period away from the Greens, his good performances in Ligue 1 could allow him to return to the national team, as he remains very attached to Algeria and keeps the desire to wear the national jersey again.
