The French Football Federation (FFF) intends to finalize all official agreements with the legendary Zinedine Zidane following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.
This information comes from transfer expert and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano (via YS Scores).
Romano noted that Zidane has not considered any other proposals in the past eight months, as his attention has been solely on assuming the role of head coach for the France national team, pending the completion of formalities.
These developments emerged just hours after the French national team was eliminated from the World Cup semi-finals with a 2-0 defeat to Spain, marking the end of ‘Les Bleus’ journey in the tournament.
Reports suggest that the FFF is working to finalize an agreement with Zidane that would extend his contract until the 2030 World Cup.

If the contracts are officially signed, this will mark Zidane's first time managing the French national team after his remarkable success with Real Madrid.
Didier Deschamps is anticipated to resign as head coach of France following the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The former captain led his team to the semi-finals, where they were defeated 2-0 by European champions Spain.
During his tenure as head coach, Deschamps guided Les Blues to a runner-up finish at the 2016 European Championship, where they lost 1-0 to Portugal in the final.
However, he successfully led them to World Cup glory in 2018, securing their second title after captaining them to victory on home soil in 1998.
He came close to helping them defend their World Cup title but fell to a Lionel Messi-led Argentina squad in a penalty shootout following a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes and extra time.
