A crushing victory... Real Madrid's four-goal haul puts them in a strong position to chase Barcelona.

Real Madrid continued to pressure their traditional rival Barcelona in the battle for the top of La Liga, achieving a significant 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday evening.
The match was part of the fifth round of La Liga, raising Real Madrid's points total to 12 in second place, temporarily equal with league leaders Barcelona, who will face Levante later on Sunday in the same round.
Real Madrid started the match with strong attacking pressure in search of an opening goal, and Rayo Vallecano showed solid defense in the early minutes, but this resistance quickly crumbled when Kylian Mbappé scored the opening goal from a penalty in the 14th minute.
The royal team did not give their opponent much time, as defender Alvaro Careras added the second goal in the 17th minute after exchanging passes with Mbappé inside the penalty area, unleashing a shot that the Vallecano goalkeeper could not stop.
In the 35th minute, Jude Bellingham scored the third goal for Real Madrid, following a run from Brazilian star Vinícius down the left and a cross into the penalty area, which Bellingham struck powerfully into the net.
At the start of the second half, Vallecano sought to get back into the match and managed to reduce the deficit in the 51st minute through Sergio Camilo, who capitalized on a defensive error by Real Madrid near the penalty area, stealing the ball and putting it past Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
In the first minute of stoppage time in the second half, Mbappé capped off his team's scoring with his second goal and the fourth for Real, following an attack that started on the left led by Ivorian Yann Diomande, who passed the ball to Arda Güler, who in turn set up Mbappé on the right to score with a shot that shook the Vallecano net.
The match ended with Real Madrid winning 4-1, as the royal team managed to control the remainder of the game in their favor.
Real Madrid's points total rose to 12 in second place, equal with Barcelona, the league leaders, who will have the opportunity to extend the gap when they face Levante later on Sunday in the same round.
On the other hand, Rayo Vallecano's points total remained at 4 in fifteenth place.
