The trial of Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver implicated in the December 2025 incident that injured boxer Anthony Joshua and resulted in the deaths of two of his associates, was postponed on Thursday to November 17.
This case, which commenced in January at a magistrate court in Ogun State, was pushed back from September 10 as hearings proceeded regarding the charges stemming from the tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accused, 46-year-old Adeniyi Kayode, is facing charges that include causing death through dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without appropriate care and attention, and operating a vehicle without a valid national driver’s license.
Prosecutors contend that Kayode was trying to overtake another vehicle when the SUV transporting Joshua and his entourage collided with a parked truck.
Joshua, a two-time world heavyweight champion, survived the injuries he incurred in the December 29 incident and was later released from medical care.
His personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, lost their lives in the crash.
The accident took place while the group was en route to visit Joshua’s father in Ogun State.
Prior police statements indicated that both vehicles had been cleared from the site before investigators arrived.
