Qatar: Bounedjah excluded after the final whistle! (Video)

Baghdad Bounedjah has once again lost his temper with Al-Shamal. Sent off after the final whistle, the Algerian striker could face a harsher punishment.

Baghdad Bounedjah has once again expressed his frustration with Al-Shamal. Not starting as a regular this Thursday against Al-Wakrah in the Qatar League, the Algerian international experienced a particularly heated conclusion to the match. At the end of the game, he approached referee Mohamed Al-Shammari to contest several decisions made during the match.

Asked to leave the field, Bounedjah first headed towards the locker room before making gestures of protest towards the referee. The latter then intercepted him to show a direct red card. Angered, the captain of Al-Shamal threw his armband to the ground before continuing to argue, prompting several club members to intervene in an attempt to calm him down.

This incident comes just days after another tense moment against Al-Rayyan in the Qatar Cup. Bounedjah thought he had scored the qualification goal in stoppage time, but his goal was ultimately disallowed after a VAR intervention. Very frustrated, he had already been held back and calmed down at the end of the match.

This expulsion will rule him out of the next clash against Al-Duhail and could even lead to a harsher sanction depending on the content of the referee's report. With the first selection of Brahim Hemdani for Algeria approaching, this incident clearly does not play in his favor, especially as it follows a series of closely spaced incidents.
