Kévin Guitoun Van Den Kerkhof starts the season in style with Sporting Charleroi. The Algerian right-back, who has particularly shone since the resumption, has just received an award for his remarkable performances during August, surpassing Nigerian Rafiu Durosinmi and Swiss Michael Frey.

The Algerian international has indeed been named Player of the Month for August in the Belgian Pro League, an accolade that highlights a particularly fruitful month for the 30-year-old athlete, as well as the impressive start to the season for Charleroi.

In the first four matchdays of the league, Charleroi has enjoyed a perfect run with four consecutive victories. Guitoun has played a crucial role in this positive momentum, proving to be particularly threatening on his right flank.

The former Bastia and Metz player has scored two goals, notably against Oud-Heverlee Leuven and Mechelen, while also providing one assist against Kortrijk. Over the last five matchdays, his tally stands at two goals and two assists, impressive statistics for a defender.

His influence extends beyond goals and assists. Guitoun ranks among the most active players in the Pro League in several offensive categories. He is particularly noted for having made the most crosses and also stands out in the progressive runs ranking, demonstrating his ability to carry the ball and break through opposing lines.

After receiving his award, Guitoun emphasized the teamwork that supports his performances. This award gives me even more confidence. When the team achieves good results and I am recognized individually, it is truly exceptional, he stated.

The Algerian also believes that this recognition belongs to his teammates, the staff, and the supporters who have backed him since the beginning of the season.

Having been disappointed not to participate in the World Cup with Algeria, Guitoun explains that he has drawn from this disappointment to come back stronger. Once again, his journey reflects his ability to bounce back after setbacks.

Despite Charleroi's recent first defeat against Union Saint-Gilloise, Guitoun continues his strong form. At this rate, the Algerian defender could be on track for one of his most successful seasons personally.
