Benkhadar Raises His Ambitions with the "Greens"

Algerian international Moncef Benkhadar has raised his ambitions with the national team to new heights after being called up to the "Greens" squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Benkhadar stated in remarks during the current national team camp in Sidi Moussa that he aims not only to return to the team but also to deliver a better performance and contribute to the happiness of Algerian fans.

He added, “My return will be positive for me and better than it was before... It’s a new challenge, and I hope for success from God.”

The former ES Sétif player continued, “We have two important matches, and we will strive to give our best to bring joy to the Algerian people with two victories.”

Benkhadar, who recently joined Al Ahly SC, missed the national team roster during the 2026 World Cup after representing the "Greens" in friendly matches, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and World Cup qualifiers.

New coach Ibrahim Hamdani has re-included him in his first squad, preparing for the matches against Zambia and Burundi in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, in addition to a friendly match against Niger.
