After a delay in the tender process launched by “Agadir Souss Massa Development” for the renovation of the Agadir Grand Stadium in preparation for hosting the “2030 World Cup,” a new tender has been issued regarding the urban development of the stadium's surroundings, including the creation of a large urban park and parking facilities.

According to project details obtained by Hespress, this initiative primarily focuses on maintaining green spaces and the irrigation system in the area surrounding the stadium. The company has allocated an estimated budget of 23,009,508.00 dirhams (including taxes) for this project, while the provisional guarantee amount for participation has been set at 350,000.00 dirhams.

The project aims to enhance the urban and aesthetic environment around the Agadir Grand Stadium, specifically through the maintenance of green spaces and the irrigation system, under the supervision of “Agadir Souss Massa Development” as the responsible entity.

The work includes maintaining green spaces through cleaning, irrigation, weeding, tree pruning, grass cutting, treatment, and replacing dead plants. It also involves maintaining and repairing the irrigation network and its components (basins, pumps, valves, pipes), as well as planting trees and equipping new trees with drip irrigation systems.

The project covers a total area of 152 hectares, including the main square (12 hectares), the eastern park (40 hectares), the western park (68 hectares), and the Lahwar Valley (24 hectares), in addition to the main entrances. The irrigation network relies on 3 water basins with a total capacity of 17,400 cubic meters and 90,000 linear meters of main and secondary irrigation networks.

The total completion period has been set at 45 months. The winning company is allowed to subcontract up to 50 percent of the contract value, provided that it does not include the core work related to the maintenance of green spaces and the irrigation network.

It is worth noting that despite the challenges faced by the external surroundings project, work on the core of the sports facility continues steadily, with the “TGCC” group winning the first portion of the stadium renovation contract with a financial envelope exceeding 1 billion dirhams, specifically 1.082 billion dirhams.

In a related context, the National Company for the Construction and Management of Sports Facilities (Sonarges), in collaboration with the National Agency for Public Equipment (ANEP) as the responsible entity for the project, has launched a new tender concerning the Agadir Grand Stadium with an estimated financial cost of around 948.3 million dirhams.

This second portion includes the construction of the metal structure for the roof, the cable network structure, and the royal entrance canopy.

The Agadir Grand Stadium, built in 2013, is expected to expand its capacity beyond 46,000 seats by 2030, along with significant changes including the addition of a 360-degree panoramic roof, improvements to VIP areas, and various technical enhancements to meet the strict standards imposed by World Cup organization.
