The Grand Prix of Tbourida concludes, and Bahraoui wins the "Noble Metal" for the second time.

The ninth edition of the Mohammed VI Grand Prize for Traditional Equestrian Arts (Tbourida) concluded on Saturday evening at the 2026 Horse Exhibition in El Jadida, with winners crowned after five days of intense competition among 18 teams from various regions of Morocco.
Abdallah Al-Alawi, president of the El Jadida Horse Exhibition Association, along with Habib Merzak, the exhibition's delegate, and other officials, presided over the awards ceremony for the winners of the Mohammed VI Grand Prize for Traditional Equestrian Arts, as part of the 17th edition of the exhibition, which runs in the capital of Doukkala until October 18.
After leading the competition, the Sharaf Al-Bahrawi team, representing the Marrakech-Safi region, won the Mohammed VI Grand Prize for the second time, having previously claimed the title in the 2024 edition.
This victory aligned with the expectations of many observers who believed that “gold” would go to this team, especially after their outstanding performance, particularly in evaluation aspects such as the rhythm of the horses' gallop, the harmony of the riders' movements, the gunfire, and the timing of the shot.
The Mehdi Anjar team, also representing the Marrakech-Safi region, secured second place, while the third place went to the Abdel Jalil Bouaidi team from the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region.
As soon as they stepped down from the podium, celebrations erupted among the winning team, riders, and fans. The festive atmosphere, as reported by Hespress, was particularly evident among the Sharaf Al-Bahrawi team, who, surrounded by their supporters, took a celebratory tour from the “motor” to the team's tent, led by the team leader Sharaf Al-Bahrawi, accompanied by enthusiastic folk songs.
Gold... Once Again
Sharaf Al-Bahrawi, the first-place winner, expressed his happiness at winning the Mohammed VI Grand Prize for the second time, noting that winning “gold” once fuels the ambition to always seek it. He said, “Anyone who is accustomed to gold will always strive to obtain it.”
Al-Bahrawi confirmed in a statement to Hespress that the road to victory “was not easy,” explaining that “the journey from the regional competition held in the town of Shmaia, through the matches in Dar Es Salaam and Bouznika, to the Horse Exhibition in El Jadida, requires a full year of continuous effort.”
He advised other team leaders wishing to win major Tbourida competitions to “be humble and cultivate mutual respect between themselves and the riders,” emphasizing the “necessity of love within the team.”
Silver with Special Significance
The second-place finish holds special significance for Mehdi Anjar, as the “silver” of the Mohammed VI Grand Prize for Traditional Equestrian Arts is the fourth title in his career.
Regarding this achievement, Anjar stated to Hespress: “Today, I received my fourth title in my career, thank God,” before congratulating Sharaf Al-Bahrawi on his first-place finish and Abdel Jalil Bouaidi on his third-place finish.
Anjar confirmed that the competition among the 18 teams was fierce, adding: “The participants who competed with us (the winners of the top positions) are all champions; they performed at a very high level,” considering that “success in gunpowder” always depends on God and His facilitation.
For his part, Abdel Jalil Bouaidi, whose team from the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region secured third place, praised the level shown by the riders during the competition, saying: “We were at a high level in terms of effort, except for one day when luck was not on our side, so we ended up in third place.”
Bouaidi emphasized in a statement to Hespress that his team “spared no effort throughout the days of the competition, whether in terms of horse care or in terms of attire and gunpowder,” adding: “But this is fate, and thank God.”
