Algerian Karate Shines at World Championship in China

The national karate team secured second place at the 2026 African Championship.

The Algerian karate team won 41 medals, including 8 gold, 13 silver, and 20 bronze, at the conclusion of the continental competition held in Algiers.

The African Championship wrapped up yesterday, Sunday, at the Oval Hall of the "Mohamed Boudiaf" Olympic Complex after five days of competitions, featuring athletes from various categories in the "kata" and "kumite" disciplines.

The national team finished second behind Egypt, which took first place with a total of 50 medals, including 30 gold, 8 silver, and 12 bronze.

As a result, the national karate teams for both men and women qualified for the upcoming World Cup in teams, scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, from November 20 to 22, 2026.
