Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, head of the medical staff for the first football team at Al Ahly SC, reported that Amr El-Gazzar, the team's defender, will undergo arthroscopic surgery to reconstruct his anterior cruciate ligament next Tuesday in Munich, under the supervision of German expert Christian Brahl.
Gaballah added that he will travel with the player to Germany tomorrow, Sunday, to finalize all necessary arrangements and examinations before the surgery.
Amouta's Urgent Requests at Al Ahly
Meanwhile, Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta has urged the Al Ahly management to strengthen the defense with two strong signings during the upcoming winter transfer window in January, due to the difficult circumstances faced by the backline as a result of recurring injuries.
Amouta discussed with the Al Ahly management in recent hours the challenges facing the team's defense, most notably the injury of Amr El-Gazzar with a torn ACL, in addition to Yasser Ibrahim's ankle sprain, as well as the absence of Moroccan player Youssef Belaïli, the team's left-back, after suffering an ACL tear during the pre-season preparations.
The Al Ahly coach assured the club's management of his complete confidence in the defenders currently on the roster and their technical abilities, emphasizing his reliance on them. However, the recent difficult circumstances and injuries affecting the backline necessitate strengthening the team with new elements.
Amouta stressed the importance of signing distinguished defenders during the winter transfer window, calling for early preparations for these reinforcements, especially with several strong options available that could add value to the team in the upcoming phase.
