Bouhtib announces his retirement from football.

Former Moroccan player Khalid Boutaib announced today, Saturday, the end of his football career, following a professional journey during which he wore the national team jersey and participated in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Boutaib shared an emotional message on social media, reflecting on the highlights of his sporting life. He explained that he spent many years playing football at the amateur level while studying, before signing his first professional contract at the age of 27 with Gazélec Ajaccio, where he experienced professional football in Ligue 1.

The former Moroccan striker also discussed his time with Strasbourg, which he described as a unique season, having scored 20 goals and contributed to winning the title and promotion to Ligue 1, before his national team experience, which he considered greater than he had ever expected, especially after scoring a hat-trick against Gabon and helping the team qualify for the World Cup after a 20-year absence.

Boutaib stated that scoring a goal against Spain during the World Cup in Russia will remain etched in his memory forever, noting that football allowed him to discover diverse countries and cultures, live with exceptional fans, and endure difficult times due to injuries and challenges, before deciding today to end his professional career.

Boutaib concluded his message by thanking his family, friends, coaches, teammates, staff, and the fans who supported him, affirming that he started his career late but lived every moment to the fullest, adding that the memories will stay with him forever.
