Mark Reuss, president of General Motors, has commended Cadillac Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez as he approaches his 300th race in the series, expressing that it is "a privilege" to have the Mexican athlete on their team.

Perez is set to become only the seventh driver in F1 history to hit this landmark, joining the ranks of Rubens Barrichello, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, and Michael Schumacher. He will celebrate this momentous occasion in front of his enthusiastic home crowd at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.

In honor of this milestone, Perez will perform a demonstration run along the Paseo de la Reforma. He is also scheduled to engage with General Motors personnel in the city before hitting the circuit in the MAC-26. Furthermore, Cadillac has confirmed an extended contract with Perez through 2029.

When asked about the festivities during the Autosport Business Exchange in New York, Reuss remarked: "It's a significant event.

"This will be Checo's 300th race, and we are immensely proud to have him on our team. He has provided us with invaluable feedback and insights from his experience on the tracks—alongside [Valtteri] Bottas—both offering real input regarding the car, the track, and the variances, as well as guidance on model development and simulation accuracy as we navigate our inaugural season.

"This is an important milestone for him, and equally significant for General Motors. Our headquarters in Mexico is located in Mexico City, so he will be addressing our dealers and engaging with our employees. I am eager to be part of that experience with him and all his supporters.

"He is simply a remarkable individual; not only is he an exceptional driver and an excellent ambassador for Cadillac, General Motors, and Formula 1, but he is genuinely a good person."

"It's a privilege to have him."

Perez and Bottas joined Cadillac for its debut F1 season this year, bringing with them a wealth of race-winning experience as the GM brand embarked on its journey into the world of elite single-seater racing.

Although the season has faced its challenges, which is typical for a brand new team starting from scratch, Reuss has been impressed with the resilience demonstrated by both drivers.

"They are quite distinct," he shared. "Any driver in any series who excels is usually very unique.

"In terms of professionalism and precision, regardless of the series—be it endurance, Formula 1, off-road, or trucks—champions exhibit this trait. They are committed to performing at their absolute best in every race, and if they encounter setbacks or make mistakes—since winning every race is impossible—they learn from those experiences and refine their skills, whether it’s with the car, their own abilities, or their fitness.

"They strive for perfection, and both of these gentlemen embody that, fully comprehending the effort and the process involved. I am genuinely pleased with their patience with us, to be honest.

"It takes a special kind of person, and both of them possess that."
