Sergio Perez secures new Cadillac F1 contract extending through 2029.

Sergio Perez has pledged his future to the Cadillac F1 initiative until at least 2029, having signed a new agreement with the US-owned team.
Perez became part of F1's expanding roster for its 2026 launch after finding himself without a seat following his departure from Red Bull last year.
Despite experiencing the highs and lows of a fluctuating inaugural season with the American squad, the 36-year-old has rediscovered his top form this season, showing strong performance in comparison to fellow veteran teammate Valtteri Bottas.
Eager to take an active role within the Cadillac team from the outset, Perez has developed a solid rapport with both team CEO Dan Towriss and General Motors chief Mark Reuss, and has been inspired by the project’s future ambitions to sign a new deal, extending his tenure for at least another three years.
“Joining the Cadillac Formula 1 Team from the very beginning was a project I genuinely believed in, and extending my commitment feels like a natural progression of this journey,” Perez expressed.
“Establishing a Formula 1 team from scratch requires time, unwavering effort, and patience, but the strides we are making together are immensely gratifying. There’s still much work ahead, and I am completely dedicated for the next three years.
“I want to express my gratitude to Dan, Mark, and everyone at TWG Motorsports and General Motors for the chance to build upon what we have initiated together. To every member of this exceptional team, at the track, in the US, the UK, and our supporters, thank you for your backing and trust. I will not disappoint you. Let’s keep striving for more."
Mark Reuss, General Motors CEO
Towriss remarked: "Establishing a competitive team in F1 is a long-term endeavor, and securing Checo’s skills and leadership offers us the continuity and dedication we require to build on the robust foundation laid in our inaugural year.
"Together, we are concentrating on the next stage of our journey, driving the team forward and making advancements in the standings.”
The announcement of Perez's contract extension comes as he prepares for his 300th grand prix in F1 at this weekend's home race in Mexico City.
To celebrate the milestone, Perez, a six-time grand prix winner with Racing Point and Red Bull, will take to the streets of the Mexican capital for a demonstration run.
The identity of Perez's teammate for 2026 remains uncertain. Bottas had reportedly signed what was expected to be a multi-year contract with the team, but a lackluster season has prompted Cadillac to reassess its options.
As the team continues to develop and Bottas' difficulties are complicated by Cadillac's inconsistent performance and variable production quality, there remains a strong possibility that Bottas will continue for another season.
However, the team has also made significant investments in preparing American test driver Colton Herta for an F1 debut. With the last seat available in the 2027 market, there has been considerable interest from other teams in Bottas' position outside of Cadillac's framework.
