Espérance Sportive de Tunis secured a hard-fought ticket to the group stage of the CAF Champions League. After losing 0-1 in the first leg, the Blood and Gold managed to equalize in regular time (1-0) before standing out in a particularly tense penalty shootout (3-1) at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Radès.

Entering the field determined to turn the situation around, the Tunisians started their match ideally with an early goal from I. Faraj in the 8th minute. This quick strike nullified the Libyans' advantage, bringing both teams to a perfect tie over the two encounters (1-1 on aggregate).

Despite evident dominance and several chances throughout the rest of the match, Espérance failed to break through against a well-organized Asswehly SC defense in the second half (0-0). With no additional goals scored at the end of 90 minutes, both teams had to settle the tie directly in the daunting penalty shootout.

More focused and buoyed by the enthusiasm of their fans in Radès, the players of Espérance de Tunis showed composure by converting three of their attempts. In contrast, the shooters from Asswehly SC faltered, missing three of their four shots. EST ultimately won 3-1 in the penalty shootout, confirming their qualification for the next stage of the continental competition!
