Al Ahli Tripoli travels to Ethiopia this Friday, October 16, to face Welwalo Adigrat University in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup 2026-2027. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:00 GMT at the Dire Dawa Stadium. The Libyans aim to secure an advantage ahead of the return leg.
Al Ahli Tripoli approaches this match with confidence, bolstered by their impressive performance in the first round. The Libyan club eliminated KMKM of Zanzibar with two victories, winning 3-0 at home and 4-0 away, totaling seven goals scored without conceding any. This attacking efficiency is a significant asset ahead of this away match.
On the other hand, Welwalo Adigrat University hopes to leverage home advantage to counter their opponent. The Ethiopian team managed to progress past the first round after a hard-fought encounter against Al Hilal Port-Sudan. Following a 2-1 defeat in the first leg, they won the return match 2-1, qualifying after the aggregate score of the two matches, according to available information.
Welwalo Adigrat will need to demonstrate defensive solidity, while Al Ahli Tripoli will look to capitalize on their offensive strengths to achieve a positive result.
The return match is scheduled for the following week in Libya.
