With 22 goals scored in 11 matches, Douma Zion has signed with Aigle Royal du Moungo, a team in the top division of Cameroon.
Amid applause from members of his church who came to support him, Pastor Douma Zion, 36, made his debut today in the colors of his new club, Aigle Royal du Moungo. The Cameroonian top division team played a friendly match against Dynamo de Douala, winning the encounter 1-0.
Despite his enthusiasm and the support of his followers, the new striker had a mixed performance. After the match, he expressed the difference he felt compared to the previous level he played at. "The intensity was huge. But God helped us, we rose to the challenge," he stated.
However, it is primarily his journey that sparks interest. Last year, this 36-year-old striker was playing in the departmental league, equivalent to the 4th division. Thanks to his remarkable efficiency (22 goals in 11 matches), he managed to sign with a top division club. It remains to be seen if he will rise to this new challenge.
