Quinton Fortune believes that the South African national team should pay special attention to Wanderers defender Max Conway, following his impressive start in the Championship this season.
The former Premier League player hopes that Bafana Bafana will expand their reach in the UK and Europe to scout talents who could claim citizenship.
Conway hails from Manchester, but his maternal grandmother was born in Pretoria, and the left-back has expressed his desire to assert his rights to represent South Africa in the future.
Fortune, who briefly played for the Wanderers during their golden era in the top division under Sam Allardyce, but is best known for his many years at Manchester United, is very enthusiastic about this idea.
“South Africa should absolutely consider him, a million percent!” he stated. “My God. If there is a player eligible for South Africa, whether he is English, Scottish, or Irish, he should look at the Irish team and what they have managed to achieve.”
