The South African national team, Bafana Bafana, gathered on Sunday evening in Johannesburg to prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea and Eritrea this month.
Several players joined the camp the day before after playing matches with their clubs across the country. Samukele Kabini joined the team on Monday morning after a night journey from Norway.
Puso Dithejane arrived from the United States on Monday evening just before dinner, after traveling from Chicago. Relebohile Mofokeng, Ime Okon, Olwethu Makhanya, Shandre Campbell, Thapelo Maseko, and Sphephelo Sithole are expected to arrive at the camp later on Monday evening.
A slight health concern in the Bafana Bafana camp
Coach Pitso Mosimane announced that Lebohang Maboe is suffering from a minor injury and did not participate in training with the rest of the players on Monday. He will be monitored by the medical team in the coming days.
Guinea, Eritrea, and Egypt: Bafana Bafana's schedule
The South African national team will begin its qualification campaign for the AFCON by hosting Guinea at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.
After their first AFCON match against Guinea, South Africa will face Eritrea at Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo, Egypt, during their second group match on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The South Africans will conclude their tour with an international friendly match against Egypt at Cairo International Stadium on October 4, 2026.
