After losing Nabil Bentaleb, the Algeria national team is once again deprived of a key player just four days before their match against Burundi in Bujumbura, which is part of the second round of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers.
This time, it is Olympique de Marseille forward Amine Gouiri, who had to leave the field in the 18th minute due to an injury during the match between Algeria and Zambia (3-1) in the first round of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers last Friday at the Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium in Tizi-Ouzou.

Amine Gouiri suffers from a “muscle injury in the left thigh”
“Injured during the match against Zambia, forward Amine Gouiri has a muscle injury in the left thigh that requires several days of rest,” said the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
Amine Gouiri underwent medical examinations on Saturday morning which “confirmed his unavailability for the remainder of the training camp. He will therefore be released from the squad tomorrow morning,” the FAF specified.

This is the second significant loss for the Fennecs after midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, who was injured during a Ligue 1 match with his club Lille and was unable to participate in the national team's first gathering under coach Brahim Hemdani.
In addition to Bentaleb and Gouiri, the Algeria national team is also without defender Rayan Aït-Nouri, who was excluded on Saturday by Brahim Hemdani for disciplinary reasons following a verbal altercation between the two during the Algeria – Zambia match on Friday.
