Discover how the referees' committee responded to Zamalek's objection regarding the referee of the Cairo derby match.

Officials from the Egyptian Football Association revealed the fate of the complaint filed by Zamalek against the Slovenian referee who officiated the recent Cairo derby against Al Ahly, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Red Devils.

The officials confirmed that Zamalek's complaint against the refereeing crew for the derby will be referred to the Referees Committee, as it is the appropriate authority in this matter.

They added that the selection of the Slovenian referee was based on official communications, noting that the apologies from elite referees were due to their commitments to matches in European leagues this week.

The Referees Committee has no authority over foreign referees

The officials clarified that they contacted Essam Abdel Fattah, head of the Referees Committee, who confirmed that he would respond to Zamalek's complaint by stating that he has no authority over foreign referees, and that the evaluations of referees on certain decisions differ from those in the Egyptian league. He added that it is not their responsibility regarding the technical level of the referee in the match, especially since he is an internationally classified referee.
