Although the defeat against Uganda's Cranes (0-2) at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg was bitter, this first friendly match provided a real opportunity for a squad review. The Congolese coaching staff seized this chance to officially integrate new players into the Leopards A team, allowing several highly anticipated young talents to gain playing time.
Among the new internationals, Jorthy Mokio, Kevin Pedro, Ezechiel Banzuzi, Jordy Makengo, Willy Kambwala, and Stephy Mavididi all made their debuts in the DRC jersey. Meanwhile, forward Afimico Pululu, who started from the kickoff, also had the honor of celebrating his first start and his first cap for the national team.
Although the final result is disappointing in terms of score, this friendly match allowed these new players to begin establishing their footing within the group. Integration is now underway for these young talents, who will have the chance to gain even more experience in their next encounter against the Ugandans.
