Ayman El-Shiriani, president of ENPPI, decided to impose financial penalties on the players after the defeat to Modern Sport with a score of 3-2 in the sixth round of the qualifiers.
The penalties included a deduction of 100,000 Egyptian pounds from each first team player due to poor performance and lack of accountability, with a warning that the penalties would increase if negative results continued, in addition to suspending all financial entitlements for the players under any title until performance improves.
