The Professional Football League (LFP) held a meeting on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Koudougou with the leaders of the Nando League. This meeting is part of an awareness tour aimed at sharing the LFP's vision and strengthening ties with stakeholders in Burkinabé professional football.
The discussions mainly focused on the challenges related to organizing competitions, match security, and the lack of adequate sports infrastructure. Just Ephrem Zio, the executive secretary of the LFP, reminded attendees that the executive committee of the Burkinabé Football Federation has decided to allow clubs with approved fields to host their opponents at home this season. This initiative aims to empower clubs in managing matches, particularly regarding security and overall organization.
In this context, leagues have been invited to designate security officials responsible for assessing the arrangements in place during matches and making recommendations to organizing clubs if necessary. However, the Nando League highlighted the challenges posed by inadequate infrastructure, which complicates the scheduling of matches for Leagues 2 and 3. They advocated for the construction of at least one compliant field in Koudougou.
The management of the championship calendar was also a central topic of discussion. Nando League leaders expressed a desire to reduce the number of matches scheduled during weekdays and to limit those organized outside of Bobo-Dioulasso. They explained that logistical support for teams ceases in this city, making travel to other regions complicated and raising logistical concerns as well as questions of sporting fairness.
The scheduling and management of match commissioners and inspectors were also addressed. Regarding security, the Nando League reported disparities in the requirements imposed on clubs depending on the regions. To improve practices, training sessions are planned for the general secretaries of leagues and clubs, as well as for match commissioners.
Through this consultation, Nando League leaders hope that local realities will be better taken into account to promote better-organized and fairer competitions. They also wished full success to the new executive secretary of the LFP, Juste Ephrem Zio, who was recently appointed.
