Celtic was surprised to see Haissem Hassan on the pitch with the Egyptian national team on Friday night, despite his coach indicating he would be unavailable due to injury. The Celtic winger joined his teammates, but an update from the Egyptian squad suggested he had sustained an injury.
Hossam Hassan had stated that the 24-year-old player required "intensive treatment" and that his recent issue was preventing him from joining the team. However, the Celtic forward was ultimately included in Egypt's starting eleven against Angola, alongside Mohamed Salah, and played for about an hour in the goalless draw.
This incident inevitably raises questions about the true nature of the injury that had apparently led Hassan to withdraw just hours earlier. For Celtic, however, the main concern is that the winger is now fit enough to participate in competitive international matches.
Martin O’Neill hopes that Hassan will return from his international commitments without any further complications ahead of Celtic's return to the Premiership against Motherwell. His debut in Glasgow has not been very convincing, but there are hopes he will regain his optimal form and help improve Celtic's situation.
Hassan's injury should be resolved by the time Celtic resumes play, given the team's disappointing performances in recent weeks. The Hoops are also closely monitoring the condition of Yang Hyun-jun, who has confirmed he is suffering from a hamstring injury sustained during his time with the South Korean national team.
