El Fawzi: I made the decision to support Morocco from the heart

Sofiane El Fawzi, the Schalke player, is preparing to return to the Moroccan national team, as he discussed his decision to continue representing the "Atlas Lions," despite the option of switching to the German national team still being on the table.

El Fawzi stated in an interview with "Sky Sports" that he received an invitation to join the Moroccan national team last May, where he played his first match in the "Lions" jersey against Burundi, a game that ended with Morocco winning 5-0, and he participated for 45 minutes.

The 24-year-old player explained that the match was friendly, and therefore he could have changed the national team he represents and switched to the German team, but he confirmed that his first experience with the Moroccan national team left him with a positive impression, adding: "It was a friendly match, yet I enjoyed the experience a lot, and I had a good relationship with the coach."

El Fawzi added that everything that followed was ultimately "a decision from the heart," affirming his choice to continue playing for the Moroccan national team.

The Schalke player expressed his excitement about returning to the Moroccan national team and playing alongside Brahim Diaz and Ismail Sabari, saying: "The last two editions of the World Cup were very strong for Morocco. As a result, Morocco continues to develop gradually. I am excited to participate and very happy about it."
