The Germans took the lead in the 15th minute with an own goal from Svit Seslar. The Celje player unfortunately deflected the ball into his own net, allowing Leverkusen to gain the upper hand.
With Edmond Tapsoba starting in defense for Bayer, Carles Martínez's men will aim to maintain this lead after the break and secure their first points of this European campaign.
On the other hand, NK Celje will need to dig deep to find a way back into the match in the second half.
